Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake emphasized that the Navy was dedicated to consolidating the security of all fishermen out in the sea. He was responding to the media in Kandy with regard to Indian fishermen.
The Navy Commander said that Indian fishermen entering Sri Lankan waters had continued for a long period. However, the Navy considered that ensuring the security of the fishermen was their responsibility. On some occasions during the terrorism period, the Indian fishermen faced difficulties. He said it was the Navy who saved these Indian fishermen when they confronted any disaster in the sea.Vice Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake paid obeisance at the Sri Dalada Maligawa today. He paid a courtesy call on the Asgiriya Mahanayake, the Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakitha Thera. The Ven. Wegala Gnanawimala Thera and several Naval Officers were present.
