Chairman of the Hanover Municipal Council in Germany Prof. Wolf Dieter Gogole has said that the international community is willing to assist the health service in Sri Lanka.
The Hanover Municipal Council has decided to provide a fully fledged Intensive Care Unit for the Karapitiya hospital in Galle. It will cost 150 million dollars. He stated this at a discussion held with Minister Maitripala Sirisena at the Health Ministry. The German delegation expressed their appreciation about the hospital service in Sri Lanka. The Minister informed him that the free medical service has existed in Sri Lanka for more than 75 years.
