The Army has said that the increase in the crime rate in the Northern Jaffna peninsula recorded in the past few months has been curbed.
Jaffna Commanding Officer of the Army Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe has said the situation has been curbed now.
The security forces personnel and the police have arrested 14 persons for their alleged involvement in the crimes that were committed recently.
The crimes reported from the North included robberies, abductions and murders among others.
Following the increase in the crime rate in Jaffna, the police together with the Army increased the security in the area and carried out joint patrolling of the streets.
