The Disaster Management Center (DMC) states that 1,583 persons from 363 families have been displaced due to the adverse weather conditions once again.
The DMC has stated that two deaths, one from Vavuniya and the other from Ambawaka on the Badulla-Nuwara Eliya road, have also been reported.
A total of about 2,043 people have been affected by the heavy rains and landslides in several parts of the country. Ten welfare centers have already been set up in Vavuniya and Trincomalee to house the displaced persons.
The Trincomalee District is reportedly the worst hit area with 1,361 persons being affected by flooding.
Landslide warnings have also been issued in the Matale, Yatawatte and Pallepola.
