The Colombo High Court today (2) ordered the prison authorities to provide the necessary facilities to former Army Commander and DNA Leader Sarath Fonseka, who is currently in prison.
Colombo High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundara had today ordered Welikada Prison authorities to provide hot water facilities to Fonseka and all other facilities the Court has earlier ordered to be provided.
Judge Wijesundara had given the order when Fonseka’s lawyer had informed Court the prison authorities have failed to provide certain facilities to Fonseka even after an order had been earlier issued by Court to the prison authorities to provide some facilities including hot water, medicine etc., to Fonseka, the authorities have yet to provide them.
The Colombo High Court today took up the case against Fonseka where it has been alleged that he had provided refuge to Army deserters.
Meanwhile, a bail plea by Fonseka’s former secretary Senaka De Silva was also taken up for hearing. De Silva’s bail application was rejected.
