An effort will be made to expand the apparel industry at the regional level.
Sri Lanka’s apparel industry representative body, the joint Apparel Association Forum has announced the launch of a regional road show in this respect/ The campaign will support the industry target of reaching five billion US Dollrs in export earnings by 2015. The programme will be launched under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The Road Show will kick off from Buttala at the “Deyata Kirula” Exhibition. The road show will thereafter visit all nine Provinces to showcase apparel industry contributions to the region. The annual export income of the apparel industry is over three billion US Dollars. Last year it exceeded three billion Dollars. It is a 309 percent growth when compared with the year 2009.
