The five Sri Lankan fishermen who were rescued by an Indonesian fisheries trawler while they were stranded in the sea have returned to the island.
They ventured into the sea in the Shankara Putha Two trawler from Hambantota more than three months ago. They were stranded in the sea due to a technical fault. Thereafter they were rescued by a small Indonesian fisheries craft. Arrangements were thereafter made by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Indonesia to dispatch them to Sri Lanka. They arrived in the island yesterday in a Mihin Lanka flight. They expressed their gratitude to the Government for taking the initiative of making arrangements to get them back to the island.
