Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has said that all necessary measures have been adopted to provide relief to people affected by floods and landslides.
The Minister told a news briefing that it had been reported that nearly 100,000 persons are hindered by the adverse weather. Even during yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, the President adverted to the fact and gave him instructions to provide all food needed by the affected persons without leaving them in hunger. During the last calamity, all the requirements of the affected persons were met, sans being restricted to circulars. Taking this experience into consideration, Minister Amaraweera said that all needs of the families impacted by floods and landslides were being met. He asserted that they would not be given an opportunity to experience hunger.
