The Armed Forces are again engaged in humanitarian operations in the face of floods. Air Force spokesman Group Captain Janaka Nanayakkara said that four helicopters have been deployed to rescue the victims. A notable feature was a child birth that took place in a helicopter which was engaged in a rescue mission.
The Air force spokesman said they have extended their support to the flood victims as uninterrupted rescue operations are being carried out while food was also being supplied to the victims. The Air Force spokesman said a pregnant woman, who was rescued from the Horowpathana area delivered her baby on board an Air Force 212 helicopter, this morning. He said that the mother and child are out of danger. They have been admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital. He pointed out that the Air Force deployed four helicopters to carry out rescue and relief operations in flood affected areas.
