Bond has been denied for a 52-year-old Berea man charged with attempted murder for firing on sheriff's deputies.
Deputies said they responded to a 911 call at Greenville County home around 8 p.m. Wednesday. A relative of Thomas Chester Page said he talked about harming himself and went into the home's garage.
The woman called authorities after hearing several shots.
Deputies tried to communicate with Page, but he started shooting at them. Page surrendered after deputies returned fire and called for backup. No one was hurt.
Authorities say Page is under suicide watch and is being held without bond on five counts of attempted murder. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
