A Republican candidate has dropped out of the race to be South Carolina's next lieutenant governor.
Businesswoman Krista Cogdill of Greenville announced her withdrawal on Friday, just 10 days after she filed to run.
The Alaska native and single mother of three children said she realized she's not cut out for politics. She said she didn't like being asked about raising money or being told to speak a certain way. And she didn't want to subject her children to comments on the Internet disparaging her.
The remaining GOP candidates in the June 8 primary are Ken Ard of Florence, Bill Connor of Orangeburg, Eleanor Kitzman of Columbia, and Larry Richter of Charleston.
The winner will face Democrat Ashley Cooper of Charleston in November.
