The Disaster Management Center (DMC) sates that over 200,000 persons have been affected by the heavy rains experienced in over 10 districts in the country.
The DMC has set up 322 welfare centers in the areas affected by the rains to provide relief to the persons affected.
The rains have also resulted in the death of six persons, the DMC has stated.
The Sri Lanka Air Force was called in to rescue persons affected by floods in the Anuradhapura district.
The air force had deployed four helicopters including two Bell212 and two M17.
The air force had also air lifted dry rations to the flood affected persons in the Welikanda area.
Meanwhile, spill gates have also been opened in all tanks in the Anurdhapura, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Ampara, Vavuniya and Trincomalee Districts as almost all the tanks reached spill levels.
