The Health Ministry has warned that dengue fever might raise its head again with the prevailing rainy weather.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry has informed the people to be careful as there is an imminent danger of dengue. According to reports 831 patients were reported in last January with 111 deaths. The highest number of patients was reported in Colombo District, amounting to 297. Hundred and seven patients were reported in Gampaha District. The Ministry points out that a high number of patients were reported in Puttalam, Jaffna and Kalutara Districts. The disease can be prevented by regularly paying attention to the mosquito breeding places.
