A series of new currency notes has been introduced at the Deyata Kirula Exhibition.
For the first time in the country’s history a currency note of the 5000 rupee denomination has been introduced. The notes were handed over to the President at the Deyata Kirula exhibition. They depict the development, prosperity, dancing systems and birds in Sri Lanka. The other notes are of the 1000, 500, 50 and 20 rupee denominations. The Central Bank said the new notes will be circulation in addition to the old currency notes.
