The President has paid obeisance at Kirivehera, during his visit to Kataragama.
The President paid obeisance to the “Ashtapala Bodhi” situated in the Kataragama Devala premises during his visit to the Sacred City this morning. Thereafter he participated in religious observances at the Devales in the Sacred City. After joining in religious observances at Kirivehera, the President called on the Chief Incumbent of the Vihare, the Ven. Aluthwewa Soratha Thera and received his blessings. He then declared open the Office residence of the Government Agent, built in Kataragama at a cost of 16 million rupees. First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Uva Chief Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa were present.
The President then visited the Deyata Kirula Exhibition which is in progress for the Second Day. Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena greeted the President offering a bouquet of flowers. The President later inspected the Children’s Park as well as the Agricultural Zone in the Exhibition Grounds. He also visited the stalls put up by the Security Forces. In addition to stalls put up by the Armed Forces, the Police, State Establishments, the Deyata Kirula also had a media zone. The stalls put up the Independent Television Network have earned high public acclamation.
