Finesse, the latest among a spree of new lifestyle magazines to hit Sri Lanka, was launched recently at Club Fuga. The extravagant launch party had several well known businessmen and celebs in attendance along with a generous smattering of journalists, partygoers and well wishers.
‘Not another lifestyle magazine!’ you say, but Finesse claims that its very essence strives to be different from everything else. As its co-editor Srijan Hur said at the launch, “When someone picks up a magazine and simply flips through the pages in an attempt to get him through next the 10 minutes, that’s our opening to introduce him to a world of possibilities or rather a gateway to escape reality. The Colombo audiences both young and old have wants and cravings, which are forever changing; over time many things have been perceived as fads, therefore we intend to keep in par with these changes and measure up to their wants by bringing forth a breakthrough in the way periodicals are designed and published in Sri Lanka.”
Packed with lifestyle and travel tips, health advice and fiction, this magazine seems not only to want to transcend boundaries of genre, but to leave the very concept of genre smoking in a crumpled pile of metal by the side of a highway. The first issue is already out in stores, featuring ab workouts, Ratnapura travel advice, one-on-one with hot models, the World Cup and globules more.
