AG’s advice sought to indict terrorist suspects

The Attorney General advice is being sought to indict suspects who attempted to engage in terrorist activities in Colombo and the suburbs during the humanitarian operations.

The Terrorist Control Bureau is taking action to indict nine suspects who are in custody for attempting to unleash terrorist activities, possessing explosive. A report in this respect was submitted to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The suspects are charged with planning the murder of VIPs, spying and unleashing attacks targeting economic hubs. Inquiry reports have already been directed to the Attorney General. The report submitted to Courts say that future action with regard to the suspects would be taken after the receipt of the Attorney General’s advice. After considering the report, the Magistrate’s Court ordered the suspects to be remanded until the 15th of this month.***

73 tigers in Britain probed

The Scotland Yard Police has begun a probe into 73 LTTE suspects who had entered Britain through illegal means.

It is reported that 495 war criminals are living in Britain and this includes the 73 LTTE cadres. A special war crimes unit within the UK immigration agency has recommended action against them. The Scotland Yard Police has been successful in baring information that they had been involved in torture, genocide, crimes against humanity or other war crimes. It is also reported that the British Intelligence had consolidated many facts with regard to the suspects.
