The health sectors are ready to face a possible outbreak of diseases in the aftermath of floods. Additional Health Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala made this reference during a special discussion in Colombo.
Dr. Mahipala said that with the flood waters subsiding, there is a possibility of an outbreak of diseases. Under these circumstances the necessary advice has already been issued. The required chlorine has been issued to chlorinate wells. Representatives of the Epidemiological Unit and officials of the Health Ministry are already visiting the areas impacted by the disaster and giving the necessary instructions to the people. Dr. Mahipala added that these teams are also coordinating the activities.
