Vehicular movement disrupted on many roads due to floods, has resumed.
Vehicular movement on roads north of Anuradhapura was returning to normalcy since this morning. The water is receding on the road between Rambawa and Medawachchiya. The stretch went under water due to the spilling of Kanadara Oya . The Army has taken temporary measures to maintain the road with the use of earth and sand bags. Bus services have commenced between Anuradhapura and Vavuniya, Sri Pura in Pulmudai and Vavuniya and Colombo and Kandy. Food and fuel distribution as well as passenger transport services are being normalized. Meanwhile the vehicular movement on Medawachchiya–Mannar road has resumed. Many stretches of the road were submerged due to the spilling of Malwatu Oya. Our representative says that the flood waters are receding in Vavuniya District as well.
