The transport services between Batticaloa and Colombo has resumed. Vehicular movement was stopped during the last five days as the road was flooded.
The stretch from Gallella to Manampitiya was under 15 feet of water. Vehicular movement has commenced as the water has subsided. All sluice gates of the Parakrama Samudra have been closed. The people are able to use the Mannar Colombo road as the train services are suspended. Meanwhile Minister Maithripala Sirisena and Deputy Minister Siripala Gamlath inspected the situation at Welikanda in Dimbulagala.
