Authorities have taken measures to renovate certain areas in the Colombo city in lieu of the Cricket World Cup 2011 matched scheduled to commence in the country mid February.
The Cricket World Cup 2011 matches are scheduled to commence on February 19.
Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Special Commissioner Omar Kamil has told the media that renovation programmes in the city of Colombo have already commenced and the cost for the projects is estimated to be Rs. 40 million.
Last week authorities commenced various construction and renovation work in the Maligawatte area near the Keththarama Cricket Stadium.
Authorities have also created an awareness programme to educate the people living in areas around stadium to keep their environment clean during the World Cup matches.
