The National Transportation Safety Board says it found no structural or engine problems with the small plane that crashed in North Myrtle Beach last month, killing the pilot and a woman on the ground.
The safety agency has released its preliminary report on the accident that killed 62-year-old Kenneth Charles Thode of Plymouth, Mass., and a woman in a trailer at an RV park, 70-year-old Eva Sullivan of Sunapee, N.H.
The report details what happened during the crash but it will be months before a final report suggesting a probable cause is completed.
The pilot was practicing takeoffs and landings at a nearby airport when his single-engine plane dove toward the ground, clipped a tree, smashed into the camping trailer and destroyed a pickup truck nearby.
