DOT alters traffic flow at bridge

Starting at mid-morning Wednesday, traffic flow will change for Columbia drivers crossing the Broad River.
The S.C. Department of Transportation will no longer allow left left turns from Broad River Road onto either Bentley Drive or Riverhill Circle. Right turns will be allowed.
The change is being made to keep rush-hour traffic moving during bridge replacement work, said resident construction engineer David Rogers.
Electronic message boards were placed near the intersection to alert drivers, but the date to institute the change has been changed to Wednesday, about 10 a.m., Rogers said. The no-left-turn rule will continue until the project is done in 2013.
