The camps for the displaced people are being gradually closed as the flood situation has come under control. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said that relief programmes are continuously being implemented.
Mr. Kodippili said 693 camps are currently providing shelter for 196,714 displaced people. More than one million people are affected by floods. He said that 14 deaths had been reported and nine have sustained injuries. Three people are missing. 2,288 houses are completely damaged while 13,111 houses are partially damaged. Relief is being provided continuously with the coordination of the Disaster Management Ministry and Regional Community Centres.
