Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has said the government has decided to supply dry rations to every family affected by floods.
Sirisena has told parliament that the pack of dry rations given to the affected families would be sufficient for a period of six months.
The dry ration pack is to consist of rice, sugar, dhal, canned fish and milk products.
According to the Minister, the government is to also assist in the rebuilding of houses and roads that have been damaged due to the adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, Director General of President’s Media Banduala Jayasekera has told the media that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the Sports Ministry to utilize the monies allocated for musical shows in the Kandy and Hambantota Districts during the Cricket World Cup 2011 for flood relief.
