Westbound lanes of Interstate 26 northwest of Charleston are open to traffic after two wrecks that killed one person and left several injured.
The Highway Patrol reports the interstate was closed at Summerville on Tuesday morning. It was reopened in the early afternoon.
One person was killed when a vehicle struck a tree and caught fire about three miles west of the Summerville exit.
About 25 minutes later, two tractor-trailers and two cars were involved in an accident in the same area. That crash resulted in several injuries.
