The operation of trains in the East has returned to normalcy.
Train services on the Eastern track running from Colombo to Batticaloa came to a halt as a result of floods. The track from Kaduruwela to Manampitiya had caved in. However, with repairs carried out, it has been possible to resume the operation of trains to the East. The Eastern civilians say the resumption of services is a great relief. They experienced immense hardships due to the only land route in the Eastern Province going under water.
