Greatship (India) Limited (GIL), a subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited, has taken delivery of GREATSHIP ROHINI, a Platform/ROV Support Vessel, from Colombo Dockyard
Great Ship Rohini is the 217th vessel to be produced by the Colombo Dock Yard. It differs from other vessels as it contains several new features with modern technology. The vessel is equipped with technology required for oil exploration in the deep sea and in the repair of oil pipelines.
It is a Class II DP vessel which has been built complying with the new SPS Code 2008 and Environmental Protection & Crew Comfort notations of Lloyd’s Register of Shipping.
The Ship has been accorded Standards Certificate by the Indian Government. The handing over of the vessel to Greatship (India) Limited took place in Colombo today under the patronage of Minister Bsil Rajapaksa. The Indian Company intends to entrust Greatship Rohini to a leading Oil Exploration firm in the world.
