Feb 9, 2011 10:05:45 AM - itnnews.lk

Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that archaic legislation as well as attitudes which impede development should be changed. This was the only path that the development targets could be reached.

The Minister was addressing a special workshop at the Central Bank Auditorium. It was organized to appraise state officials with regard to the initiatives the Sri Lankan Government could take according to the rankings of maintenance of businesses announced by the World Bank. 183 selected countries are included in these rankings. The workshop adverted to launching of enterprises, the issue of permits for buildings, registration of property, procuring loans, security for investments, taxes border issues and agreements. Prime Minister’s Secretary S. Amarasekara, Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral and officials of many state establishments were present.
