The programme of granting relief to all people who were seriously affected by incessant rain is continuing.

The Government has given essential food and sanitary ware worth about five million rupees for the benefit of the people hindered by floods in several Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Trincomalee District, including Muttur, Seruwawila and Verugal. Trincomalee District Secretary T.T.R. De Silva said that the stock was dispatched this morning to Muttur by the Ranagaja Vessel of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Government is providing housing assistance on behalf of houses devastated in the Rattota area in Matale. These activities took place under the patronage of the Central Province Highways and House Construction Minister Bandula Yalegama. The affected families have already been met their other requirements.

Minister Risath Bathiyuideen said the needs of the families impacted by floods in the Mannar District were also being met. Although the flood waters in the area have receded, dry rations are continuously being provided.

The weather situation in Kandy is also improving. Chief Officer of the Kandy District Disaster Management Centre Kamal Herath said that all initiatives are in place to fulfill the basic requirements of the displaced who had taken shelter in 17 Camps.

The Police Seva Vanitha Unit has also donated a stock of aid including essential food for the benefit of the people impacted by floods in Trincomalee and Kantale.
