Prison inmate charged with threatening ex-Gov. Sanford

A S.C. prison inmate has been charged with threatening the life of former Gov. Mark Sanford.
Gerald M. Evans, 49, of Bishopville has been charged with threatening the life of a public official, the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division reported. Evans made direct and indirect threats to Sanford in a handwritten letter, according the arrest warrant. Evans also allegedly threatened Sandford's family.
The letter was written in late October while Evans was incarcerated at Lee Correctional Institution in Lee County.
