Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that knowledge in languages is important for national unity as well as development.
The Minister said that the President’s wish is to provide a good knowledge in all three languages to students studying in these schools. He said that in ten years time it is expected that everybody will be able to speak in all three languages. He said that then only national unity will be possible. The Minster was speaking at a function held at the ‘Babussalam’ Muslim School at Pasyala in Mirigama. The construction of the three storied building at the school was initiated under the patronage of the Minister. It will cost 25 million rupees. Of this, 12 million rupees has been donated by the Pakistani Government. Chief Minister of the Western Province Prasanna Ranatunga and a number of people’s representatives were present on the occasion.
