Schools that were closed in the Eastern Province due to floods have re-opened.
Many schools in the Eastern Province were damaged due to floods. The Provincial Education Ministry took measures to close down the schools due to the situation. Measures have been taken to re-open these schools after the flood waters subsided. However, the Eastern Provincial Education Ministry said 10 schools will still remain closed in the Batticaloa District, three schools in Trincomalee District and two schools in Ampara District will remain closed.
Meanwhile the operation of trains in the Eastern Province has returned to normality. The services were suspended as the Colombo-Batticaloa main line was affected by floods.
