The family of a Charleston teen who was taken to a clinic for a birth control shot without her parents' permission has settled a federal lawsuit against the school district and a nonprofit group.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the Charleston school district issued a public apology Wednesday for the Burke High School student.
The school district paid the girl's family $5,000. Carolina Empowerment Group would not say how much it paid.
The family's name was not released.
The girl's mother said in October she learned her daughter had been taken by a Carolina Empowerment Group employee for a birth control shot without the mother's knowledge.
