The Colombo Port sets a new record in Container handling last month, showcasing its highest efficiency through the years.
The Terminals of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority at the Colombo Harbour established a new record last month in container handling. The volume was 250 thousand TEUs. The growth is 24 percent when compared with the figure in the corresponding period last year. Container handling, including re-exports at the Colombo Harbour in the face of normality which had returned to local as well as foreign economic activities, has registered a remarkable growth. It was a 11.1 percent growth last month. The number of containers handled during the period under review was 366 thousand 971. The total number of containers handled at the Colombo Harbour last year was four million.
