The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to shift the World Cup warm up matches that were scheduled to be held at the Pallekele Stadium in Sri Lanka due to the delay in preparing the pitches.
Two warm up matches between Sri Lanka and the Netherlands and the Netherlands and Kenya were to be held this weekend at the Pallekele Stadium.
Tournament director, Ratnakar Shetty has said, “The ground staff at Pallekele have had to contend with an extremely high volume of rainfall over a number of weeks, far in excess of what is normal for this time of year.”
However, the ICC has said that the World Cup matches would not be shifted from the Pallekele Stadium.
The new venue for the warm up matches is to be announced later.
