Richland County authorities have arrested a 35-year-old long distance truck driver for the sexual assault and burglary of a woman he met through an online dating site. Others who may have been victimized by Howard are encouraged to contact the investigating detective, Sheriff Leon Metts said in a statement.
According to Metts, Cornelius Julian Howard and the unidentified victim met at a Columbia restaurant for lunch and then went to her apartment to watch a rented movie where the first alleged assaults took place. Howard allegedly left the woman's apartment only to return later and assault her again.
Howard was arrested in late January. Because his job takes him in and out of the Midlands area, authorities are concerned other woman may have been victimized and encourage them to contact the sheriff's department.
