Berkeley County sheriff's deputies say an unmarked cruiser was stolen and later found abandoned in Goose Creek.
Sheriff's spokesman Dan Moon says there was at least one gun in the car that belonged to the deputy driving the vehicle. It was unclear if the gun was still in the car when it was found shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday.
Moon says the county jail director, Capt. Cliff McElvogue, was apparently in a home in the Goose Creek area when the car was taken.
No arrests have been reported.
