Sri Lanka’s Dialog Axiata, the islands largest mobile operator said it will invest 150 million US dollars in expansion bringing the total foreign direct investments by the firm to 1.2 billion US dollars.
The agreement for the related investment has been entered into with the BOI. The new investments in part will to go strengthen its broadband and fiber optics network coverage.
The agreement was inked by BOI Chairman and Director General Jayampathy Bandaranaike and Chairman of Dialog Axiata Datuk Azat Kamaldeen. The signing took place in the presence of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The Minister presented a certificate to the Dialog Company symbolizing the appreciation of the Sri Lankan Government to the contributions made by the Company to the promotion of the Information Technology Communication field. Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Anusha Pelpitia and Dialog Axiata Chief Hans Wijesooriya were present on the occasion.
