55 percent of LTTE detainees who had undergone rehabilitation have been reintegrated into society. This has been revealed by Rehabilitation Commissioner General Sudantha Ranasinghe.
5809 rehabilitated LTTE cadres had already been reintegrated into society. 4500 detainees are undergoing rehabilitation at nine Centres. All LTTE child soldiers and 99 percent of women cadres had already been reintegrated into society. They are at present in lucrative jobs. The Rehabilitation Commissioner General said that a review of all rehabilitated cadres is now being carried out. There are 212 cadres at Rehabilitation centres, who had been successful at the GCE Advanced Level Examination. 40 of These have qualified to enter Universities. Sudantha Ranasinghe said that a scholarship programme was being planned for their future education.
