Indian intelligence agencies have alerted the Tamil Nadu police that suspected LTTE cadres are planning attacks on VVIPs.
‘The Hindu’ quoting intelligence sources said that the attacks are expected to be carried out during the forthcoming Assembly elections. The Ministry of Home Affairs had sent alert messages to authorities that some LTTE cadres had arrived in Tamil Nadu and were engaged in a training programme at an “unknown location.” The intelligence reports say that the training programme is now over. According to central intelligence agencies LTTE cadres are targeting possibly the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the National Security Advisor, and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister among others. The LTTE is attempting to raise its head once against following the defeat in Sri Lanka. Director General of Tamil Nadu Police Letika Saran has stressed that security will be tightened in the state to prevent any incident.
