President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge says Sri Lanka is moving towards speedy development with a strong parliamentary system.
A special banquet was hosted at the President’s House last night in honour of the participants of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Asia Regional Conference in Colombo. Speaking further, Mr. Weeratunge opined that the entire nation was reaping the benefits of the Mahinda Chinthana. The Parliamentary system which is in operation in Sri Lanka is a fitting example to other countries in the Asian region. The island nation has been able to achieve many victories within a short period. Mr. Weeratunge said it was possible to achieve all these victories due to the prudent leadership of President Rajapaksa.
Speaker of the Pakistani Parliament Dr. Fehmida Mirza referred to the many victories Sri Lanka had achieved in comparison to the other countries in the region. She emphasized that it was mainly due to the farsighted policies of President Rajapaksa. The support received from President Rajapaksa earned her appreciation. Many guests were present.
