The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has decided to increase the number of raids conducted annually and also providing an incentive scheme for the officers involved in the raids.

The Cooperatives and Internal Trade Ministry has taken steeps to increase the number of raids carried out by the CAA to 700,000 per year and to grant a 10% commission to the officers conducting the raids.

The Ministry has stated that the raids would be carried out to maintain discipline among traders and to create a fair market.

Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando has told the media that the Ministry’s decision to give a 10% commission as incentive on successful raids conducted by the CAA officers is aimed at motivating the officers.
