The UNP today (15) said the government has failed to give school uniform material to students for the new school year even two months after the commencement of the school term.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a press conference that the usual practice was to distribute school uniform materials to students a few days after the commencement of the new school term.
He said the government needed to formulate a proper mechanism to distribute school uniform material to students.
Meanwhile, Attanayake also called on Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake to take action against governing UPFA member and Central Provincial Council Chairman Salinda Dissanayake over an alleged statement made by him.
He charged that Dissanayake had threatened to suspend local government bodies that are won by the opposition at the forthcoming local government elections.
