A driver and passenger died Wednesday evening in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 95 in Sumter County.
The 69-year-old male driver and his 66-year-old female passenger were driving north on the highway around 5:16 p.m. about four miles west of Turbeville when the driver lost control of their Ford Explorer, South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper Billy Elder said.
The sport utility vehicle overturned and landed on the right side of the interstate. The passenger died at the scene and the driver was airlifted to a hospital in Florence, where he later died.
Both occupants, of Nordland, Wash., were wearing seat belts.
The wreck is under investigation.
