Another Sri Lankan housemaid has been harassed in Saudi Arabia has been admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
33-year-old K.G. Malkanthi had taken up a housemaid job in Saudi Arabia on the 19th of November last year. However, she had been subject to harassment from her master. Since she had raised objections to being harassed, her employer had pierced needles into both her hands.
She said that her hands and legs were tied before the needles were pierced into her hands. She fell unconscious when two needles were pierced into her body. She was untied when she recovered. One of the four needles was removed through surgery. She pointed out that that the doctors had told her that they could not take out the other needles as these had gone into the body.
A surgery was carried out at the Karapitiya hospital yesterday and one of the needless pierced into her hands had been removed. Several such incidents had been reported since Ariyawathi of Thihagoda returned home with nails embedded in her body.
