Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has said that the forthcoming Local Government Election is not to change the administration but to select the members who are required to carryout development work in villages.
The Deputy Minister said this election will not change the President, the Government, Provincial Councils or reduce a price of a coconut. It is to select a member who would build the roads, supply water and look into the problems of rural people. He said that efficient people need to become members and not those who only participate in the meetings held once a month. They should move with people and understand them. He said that the members who work full time in politics are required for the Pradeshiya Sabhas.
