The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) appointed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa last year to study and make representations to form a path towards reconciliation in the country is to travel to the South.
The LLRC is to travel to Galle today (18) for sessions and proceed to Matara tomorrow (19).
The Commission is expected to meet with residents in the South to gather more evidence before concluding its public sessions this month.
The public hearings in Colombo have been concluded. However, a spokesperson for the Commission said that in the event an individual who figures prominently during the period under review expresses interest to make submissions, the Commissioners might decide to meet with them.
The term of the LLRC is to come to an end on May 15 and its final report is to be handed over to the President in May.
