The ICC World Cup series is commencing today while Sri Lanka is enjoying the co-host status.
The National Cricket teams of 14 countries will vie for the championship at stadiums in three countries. The first match of the series is being held at the Dhaka International Cricket Stadium as a day and night encounter. The first match of the B team is being between Bangladesh and India.
The first encounter of Sri Lanka is scheduled for tomorrow at the Mahinda Rajapaksa new International Cricket Stadium at Suriyawewa in Hambantota. The ‘A Team’ match between Sri Lanka and Canada will commence at 2.40 p.m.
Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh are co-hosting the series until the 2nd of April. President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the heroes of the Cricketing world who arrive in Sri Lanka will be warmly welcomed. The President stated that co-hosting the series is an honour to the entire country.
