President Rajapaksa inspected the new Pallekele International Cricket Stadium which is slated as an International Cricket Council venue to hold the Cricket World Cup 2011 matches.
Work on the Pallekelle Stadium has been completed and is equipped with all modern facilities. The President during the visit inspected the readiness of the Stadium to stage the World Cup encounters. Three World Cup matches are due to be staged at the Pallekelle Stadium. Sri Lanka will host Pakistan vs. New Zealand on March 08th , Sri Lanka vs. Zimbabwe on March 10th and Pakistan vs. Zimbabwe on March 14th at the Pallekele Stadium. Another encounter between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will be staged on the 14th of March. Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Keheliya Rambukwella and a group of parliamentarians joined the President in this visit.
